Limited Power Light comes on and off. I noticed the battery charging needle goes from the center of the gage, to way into the upper charge, and nearly burys the needle into full charging, at the top of the battery gage, and then back to the center again... several times. When it's in the center, the headlights appear dimmer, and at full charge they are brighter. The on-off-on-off-on Code reads 46. Is this an alternator, regulator, or logic module problem? I recently converted over to all T2, and had the inside computer re-worked to T2 specs, but I did not do anything to the stock T1 Logic Module on the outside firewall. Could this be the problem??? Thanks Guys for the help!!!

Sounds like the alternator is full fielding and overcharging, which would set your code.

Since you just went to a TII setup check the clearance your alternator has to the radiator. If the right connections are grounding out on your radiator it can cause those symptoms.

You'll want to trace the wiring from the alternator back to the power module. It could be a wire that is grounding out on the engine, a bracket, the frame, etc.

You'll find 4 leads on your alternator. We're concerned with the two that have the smallest nuts holding them on. Both are dark green at the alternator, then one turns to a dark blue wire at a connector near the battery, the other wire stays green. The dark blue wire will have 12V any time the ignition is on. The green wire will go to the PM and the PM grounds it out to control the alternator's output. Make sure the insulation on the wires is good and not making contact with anything.

You may want to get your alternator checked out since it may be shorting out inside and full fielding itself. Also the PM could have a fault and keep the green wire grounded for too long. If you want some more detailed instructions PM me.

Hello Ray! I was told that the two wires running to my computer may be loose, and not making firm contact with the posts. This sometimes happens when the T1 to T2 computer conversion with these two wires added, for the conversion. What happened most likely is that the connection on the blue connector is not making contact on pins 2 and 22 all the time. . I will also check out your suggestions. I much appreciate your assistance with this. I will advise if or when I find the problem(s), in the event someone else encounters this issue.

Sounds good Chuck. The code you got, 46, is a charging system fault, overcharging. Having the needle on the voltmeter on the dash do what it's doing is another sign of overcharging. That's why I went after the charging system.

Absolutely, Ray! Excellent diagnosis on your end. The "Silver Bullet 2" is going in tomorrow for a new Mopar performance rack and pinion, it will be checked then. Thanks again for your assistance.
