Anybody know anything about running mechanical fuel injection with a turbo?
I think I understand how the bypasses and jetting work to change fuel flow to match needs based on rpm, but how would you add fuel pressure based on boost? Do they make a rising rate regulator for those? And how would you get the fuel flow to increase at the correct rate? It seems like a rising rate would be too lean at boost onset, and too rich at full boost.
I've been on Kinsler's site as well as Hilborn's. Hilborn offers some "turbo parts" but I don't know what they do, though I suspect they are similar to rising rate regulators.
Anybody been there and done that? Blowers are cake, since boost is rpm dependent (so is the fuel pump output). Since turbos have different boost levels at the same rpm, depending on the gear the car is in..... things aren't as simple.
Since F1 used mechanical EFI and turbos at one time, there has to be a good answer.
I've been looking at Porsche's CIS system on the older turbo models too.
Anybody know anything?
