So I installed a zener diode for the first time today...

And I'm not very happy with it. It seems to give me fuel for a little while, and then I go lean. I figure the diode is probably giving it enough fuel for about 10 psi or so (I don't have a boost gauge right now, but I have the small can actuator, and when my boost gauge actually worked, that can would only allow it to hit overboost barely, and usually not even that high).
My plan...until the day i replace that can, get a boost gauge and put on the +20s and the afpr that i have in the garage...was to let the can run to whatever it wanted to, 15 or a little less, I figure and have the diode not let me hit overboost and just watch my a/f gauge. I doubt I will get more boost than I have fuel for, and i have a mighty big intercooler on there (NPR).
I might try a 4.7v and see if that does anything, for $.50 its no big deal if i still hit overboost. I also have a spare grainer, but it seems like it'd be a little tough to dial it in correctly with no boost gauge...but I'll probably still try it. I found an extra plastic tee in my garage today, anyway.
So that's it...I need to take the zener back out and just keep the van slightly out of wot, and i won't hit overboost and she pulls nicely. No grainger on the wastegate required (yet).
