I know this isn't a turbo problen folks, but we need some input with this . The car was diven home and refuses to start again. It will run as long as it is fed ether, then it dies.Ck'ed the fuel line, its ok. Replaced the map& tps& the asd. Nothing happens. Gets spark, does not stay running. This is a car being used til next month, when my Omni GLH-S hits the road. Anyone have any ideas to what I'm overlooking?

It runs when you add fuel? If so I would be checking the fuel pump, fuel pump relay( I think these cars have them), . Also I have seen several of these car have corrosion in the wiring going from the ECU(the computer by the battery) going back to the firwall. If you have access to a nice scanner you can rule out a whole lot of things. Good luck!

first, check for fuel pressure at the injector rail. needs to be 30-35 psi. if pressure is ok, then get a scanner and check cam and crank signals.

one other funny trick I recently encountered was a fuel pump hanging up. have someone crank the engine and another person take a rubber hammer and hit the bottom of the fuel tank...I didn't believe it until I saw it in person... but it worked and got a customer back from FL to WI. The guy broke down near Nashville and called a wrecker. he said the wrecker guy did the hammer trick and it worked. my customer made it from TN to WI only having to hit the tank 2 more times in 900 miles. I pulled the tank and installed a new fuel pump just this weekend. I had to clean out the tank, there was a lot of debris in there that was probably clogging the sock and may have jambed the pump on occation, the fuel filter was also plugged...so there was a lot of junk in the tank.

after fixing up their van, the only complaint was that fuel milage dropped by 1½mpg. I suspect the fuel system restrictions helped milage but effected performance.
