I had some moisture in the coolant temp sensor socket, it drove the engine nuts, doing exactly what you say, but the fan would still work.

But I'd bet the static fuel pressure is just too high with the higher flowing pump and the tiny return lines that come with our cars. There may even be some crud in the return line making things worse. With a fuel pressure gauge you would be able to tell in an instant.

Confirming fuel pressure would be first obviously.
Since you have a scanner what does the ECT read for temp?
Have you reset the battery since pump upgrade?
Was the return line bent or crimped during pump install?
Running return line from regulator to gas can with gauge
can test regulator/return lines ability to flow.

ECT seems to follow temp/voltage from the Diagnostic manual I have for the 89 Turbo motors. I don't notice any bent or krimped tubes. And I replaced all the rubber hoses. I put on a fuel pressure testor to the rail, and I'm seeing above normal fuel pressures. I'm looking at 61 psi with the vacuum hose off of the canister. And 51 with it connected. I know that it should read 55 not connected and 45 with it connected. I guess I'm ready to intercool and remove overboost. LOL

But why wouldn't the pcm bring the A/F down at idle and cruising loads? I'm betting on a faulty O2 sensor. I can pull the old one from the shadow to see if it is the problem with the sundance. I'll report my finding tomorrow. I can try to pull the hose from the return line and see if the pressure drops any as well.

Thanks to all for your assistance.

Nope, could just be stuck at a cooler than stock reading, which will add lots of fuel, and will not throw a code.

If it's ''stuck'' at a cooler than stock reading the fan would never come on, or atleast come on way late meaning overheating.

Could be a number of things: slow to warm up, intermittently increasing resistance, non-linear response curve due to parallel resistance...

Well, the O2 sensor has corrected itself. I guess it just sat for too long. I took it out for a drive and now it swtiches like it should. It took about 30 miles for it to start reacting as it should.

Now if I can only figure out my other problems, I'd be much happier.
