I need the PN to a Turbo 2 Logic module 87+ that will swap into an 87 2.2 T1 J-Body Convertible.

I'm doing a T2 conversion and I know I will have to run 2 wires from the new LM to the AIS. But what logic module should I get? Will ANY T2 logic module work?

I read there are a couple where you would have to swap pins - but I am not sure if that is dependant on which body you are swapping it into or whether all of the bodies are the same and it depends on which logic module you get.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

If I'm not mistaken, 5233171 is a stock '87 Daytona Shelby-Z LM.

Here's the pinouts of an '87 T-II LM
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/ecu/lm-1987-t2.html

And and '87 T-I LM
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/ecu/lm-1987-t1.html

Print them both out, note any difference, rewire as needed! You shouldn't have to splice into or cut any of the LM wires, simple pop them out of the connector and reposition them into the proper cavity as requried.

Of course you'll have to run the wires for the AIS, Charge air temp sensor, and if you wanna go full tilt-boogie, the 3-wire O2 sensor.

Later,
Craig

I reviewed the pinouts and the only difference is the AIS motor - so I need to find an 87 T2 Logic Module.

I tried that PN you gave and it was no-go.

I will call a dealership tomorrow and ask - maybe you can try another number?

Mike

p.s. Does the 87 2.2 T1 not use a charge-air temperature sensor? I was under the understanding that it did.

Using the 1-piece turbo intake I was told the vacuum nipple that feeds the Fuel pressure regulator and some of the other parts of the vacuum system unscrews and that hole is perfect size for the charge air temp sensor.

Should I go ahead and install the sensor there - if so where should I get the vacuum for the MAP Sensor and Fuel Rail - if not - where should I drill and tap a hole for the charge air temp sensor?

There you be! - So, it's much like throwing a GLHS Stage II LM in: swap a couple a pins around for the AIS ...

The Number definitely won't cross-reference to a dealer's stock (if any is left) ... It's just what is on the sticker of the logic module I have sitting here for reference. I figured it would aid you in finding one from the junkyard or on ebay, or here on TD.Com.

If you are going to go the "new" route for a logic module, get the GLHS Stage - II module, it'll boost to 14 psi instead of the '87 Shelby-Z T-II 12 psi.

Best of luck with your conversion!

Craig

I'm not worried about if it boosts to 12 or 14 - I'm looking for a working ECU to run the new setup - I may be looking at a custom cal later on or using a mechanical boost controller.

BTW I added you on MSN feel free to sign in =)

Will 2.5 T1 injectors work or should I stick with the 2.2 T1 injectors?

I was reading that the pulse width for the injectors on the 87 were modified due to the very bad design of the log intake - is the design change in the injectors themselves or just in the Logic Module. Since I will be swapping to a T2 logic module if it's in just the module alone I won't need new injectors I am assuming.

Check Donovan's garage. He has a great step by step and explanations of what to do. It answers about 50 questions you still haven't asked.

I've read all of the conversion sites - I'm going to go ahead and run with the Stock 2.2 T1 injectors until I can order a set of T2 injectors - it will run lean but I don't plan on running more than 1psi boost or going WoT at all until the motor has a few grand on it

Well I am still looking into breaking in a rebuilt motor - =)

I'll be sure and post and let you guys know how the conversion does and what happens with it - the machine shop is with me all the way on this.
