Installing a 255 FP in a SC, need help

i have a 86 SC, i was told to just put the 255 in tank and just remove the external fuel pump all together. well i got the external pump removed and i removed the lock ring and internal assembly, only to find there is no internal pump! so i dont know how to put the walborro in correctly? and help or diagrams would be great. here are some pics of what i found.

looks like some one just removed the internal pump and put a rubber hose as a fuel pick up. Weird cause it ran fine....
