Well, a 2 weeks ago the pump on the van died. That was okay because last year I bought a 255lph pump from a guy on ebay. New. Was to fit a 1989 Caravan. Well, I got the old hanger and pump out today.. looks like an easy swap. But then I start to notice things.......

The hanger needs modified to fit the pump just like my charger did.... is that right?

The end of the pump where the sock filter goes doesn't go in the hole already in the hanger .....

Looks like I need to soldier the wires and heat-shrink them? Not exactly something I wanted to do around gas. I know on the charger it came with butt-splices.

And the new pump is bigger around than the old one, so the black part will BARELY fit.

Is this all normal stuff that I shoudl be dealing wiht, or did I get the wrong pump? I knew I woudl have to do some mods with the charger, but I thought the van was a drop in. ~~Heath

Sounds fishy. What is the part number written on the side of the pump housing?

After looking it over there was soem modification needed.

1 the bottom of the original pump hanger is plastic, remove it and the walbro pump fits nice, and the filter goes on fine. The plastic clip had to be rounded out as the charger does. Easy enough with a dremel with sanding barrel. Wires were butt-spliced and everything went fine. Now I just need new straps, reinstall, fill up and go. ~~Heath
