Hey guys,
im about to trade a fidanza for a stage 5 cal and some SS braided turbo lines....

I was wondering if I can get some feedback about these computers, I did some searching and seemed like some had some running rich, and some leaned out...and most people suggest another cal vendor, was it turbos unleashed?? i cant remember the other name....

also some mentioned of FWDP cals having bad idle?? i plan to run as the cal stats with 3 bar, plus 40s, and of course AFPR w/guage.....

or should I keep the flywheel, and control everything manually and use the stock computer??

all this is going into my 87 Shelby Charger with a complete 89 TII swap....just waiting on the wire harness...... i figure 18psi cal should get me into the 13s......

I love my stage 5 cal. On my stock tII it was very rich above 20 lbs of boost. I bled the mapsensor to take car of it. 31 lbs of boost netted me 266 hp and 380 some lb of torque at the wheels.
I have sence put my t3t4 hybrid on the same motor and it runs alot better. I dont bleed the map anymore abd a/f ratio is great.
The stage 5 cal also starts hard when cold. Usually have to keep car running for the first couple of seconds. For a very generic cal it is ok.

hahah.. Bled the map sensor to lean it out. That's a good trick.
There's a thread here on TD.com discussion what you'd need to acquire to be able to do your own cals. It's not as hard as it seems at first.
I'd definitely keep that flywheel.

I thought the whole point of getting a 3 bar cal is to avoid having to rely on bleeds?

I agree you should not have to bleed the map sensor. However I did and it was a completely flat 11.5 a/f ratio across the rpm range.
The down side was that after 20 psi it was no longer pulling timing.
Moral to this story. The stage 5 cal should only be used on a modified engine that flows more air and needs more fuel.
P.S. D-cal is a way to tune yourself. I am in the process of doing this. It looks like a great thing and the guys that supply it should be congratulated.

That's what I thought too, but with an "off the shelf" cal, it's hard to say if the show will always fit perfect. That's why I would recommend a cal from TU, because they can do more to tune the cal specifically to your vehicle.

well im just running stock turbo/intercooler for now...

so maybe i will rethink the decision....besides i could use the flywheel to put on another one of my TD's since the Charger already has one

im gonna try to dig up the thread about doing my own cals...I have a laptop so i was thinking that i could do things more easily...

Thanks bud! A lot of hard work by the ECM group made it all possible. The same kind of pioneering is still going on by some of the guys in our D-Cal Yahoo group!
