Folks..I'm all out of ideas. With all the mods listed below my van still won't light the tires. Not even at 18 psi. Vacuum is 19" at idle. Tried advancing cam timing by 1 more cog clockwise but it ran worse. Ignition timing is at 12*. AF meter shows all lights on boost.

Motor Mods:
Fresh 2.5, fresh match ported head, S60 turbo, Spearco IC, +40's, 3" Mandrel exhaust, no cat, G-valve, Overboost eliminator, Cartech RRFPR, Home-brew AFPR, aftermarket BOV, teflon on knock sensor, new wires/cap/rotor

Trans mods:
TBI case with fresh Turbo Clutch packs (set tight), usual Valve Body and governor mods, increased line PSI, lockout converter, Modified Phantom Grip, RV oil cooler

It runs well and is quick but it chugs gas is not as fast as it should be given the mods. BTW...plugs look pretty good

Help

what kind of car is the engine in? Is there a dyno close to you where you can see exactly what kind of power you making? A wideband would also help you in case you have your regulators tuned incorectly. *** edit saw it was a van. That should be a decent setup capable of low 14's on dr's or slicks....you should probly dyno it or bring it to the track to see how it is actualy running.

I've got an 1/8 mi near by that I've been meaning to go to. I'm pretty sure that I'm running low 14's. I raced a Pontiac GTP with Pulleys and CAI and pulled on him by a bit...they run 14.6 stock. I think I should be running in the 13's with this setup.

Slicks?? I cant even spin my 195/75 Whitewall Michelins

Running 52pph injectors on a stock computer with RRR?
All lights lit at WOT? Sounds like you answerd your own
question. Throw in stock injectors for an afternoon and
raise FP back up, bet you smoke the tires at 12psi.

I had the stock injectors in there upto 10 psi with and stock FPR (otherwise same set up). Plugs looked a little too clean and I didn't want to melt anything. Wouldn't I lean out at 12 psi on stock injectors and bigger turbo?

you shouldnt lean out....
does your budget allow for a custom cal? that would be my next bolt on. no real need for a rrr and afpr with a tu cal, plus you could get the maximum out of your set-up.

Set your base fuel pressure down to 24psi. The RRG reg will take care of it up top.

/\/\/\ I agree. Your power is off because you're way to rich. I just went through the same issue. You won't believe the power you'll make when you get the correct A/F ratio!
(God help the 195/75 Michelins)

Base pressure is set at 22 now. Tried 19 with the RRFPR signal line disconnected. limited boost to 15 psi (with the throttle) and it felt the same.
I'll try leaning it out some more and turning the boost down with the g-valve. Also going to pick up an air compressor today to tune to fuel curve with (in the driveway while running). Hopefully that will get me closer.

So How clean can plugs get before things start looking like an a 2-yr old's icecream cone?
I leaned out a turbo motor once and I guess now I am traumatized

As long as you watch your A/F and EGT gauge, you should be good to do whatever you want.

Lowered Base fuel pressure to 15 psi (FPR signal still connected) during lunch break. Engine seems quieter even at WOT. Still all 10 lights...still no smokey tires. Will tinker some more tonight.

I'm booking dyno time in Louisville, KY area...anyone interested in participating in a dyno day? $50/car 3 pulls...looking at 5-15-05

Wow... don't believe I'd go much below 15psi. (you're approaching carborated fuel pressure)

A/F Lights are lit and plugs look good
It does seem a little more responsive too.
Will post to let you know how it runs after I trim down the FMU tonight.
Plugs are supposed to be your best measure of how thing are running...I check them after every tuning adjustment.
The only other thing I can do is say TRRBOJEEP's prayer...

Yea though I speed through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no ricer... for thy whitewalls & turbo whine comfort me! Surely, black marks & tire smoke will follow me, all the days of my life!

(I took some liberties )
