Fuel Pump Replacement ?

When replacing the intake fuel pump with a walbro 255, do you retain the pulse dapener? The directions for the pump, say that not all cars came equipped with one.

1990 Sundance 2.5L TI.

The pump is already in. It didn't look like it would restrict the flow so I kept in on. Thanks for the reply.

I don't think it really makes a difference. I think I reused mine, but I've seen t2 pumps without them.
