Yes I know, I've been doing that for years.

I think the problem is that the gauge is showing about 1/8-1/4 tank less than I actually have, thereby causing me to wonder where all the fuel went.

I know that the gauge used to go over 1/8" ABOVE the Full mark with a fill up, this time it got to the F and never went higher.

And that's after the pump kicks off, I ease another gallon or more in, shake the car to get the air out of the tank, and keep filling and shaking until the fuel is all the way up the tube and it won't take any more. Now THAT'S a full tank!

the gauge is nothing more than a suggested volume, they are NOT a precision measuring device. you sure like to chase around your issue. we were all trying to help you based on your perceived problem. geez.

not to mention getting raw gas up into the charcoal cansiter for even MORE drivability problems.

seems the problem started with chasing a lot of sensors and ending up with a gas approximator gauge issue geez.

Yeah, I sure like to do things the hard way, don't I?

I've been SUPER-FILLING gas tanks like this for many years, never had a problem.

I did have some trouble with putting the filler tube back in when I installed the Walbro 255, it's not impossible that it could've smacked into the sending unit for the gas gauge. The gauge started going crazy shortly after that.

Advance Auto Parts doesn't show the fuel sender on its website, looks like a junkyard trip is in order here! I don't know what a Mopar dealer would charge for a new one, but it's more than I want to pay, that's for sure!

How can overfilling the gas tank possibly destroy the fuel sender? It's submerged in gas anytime there's more than about 1/2 - 3/4 of a tank of fuel.

I checked the spark plugs today, and they're looking normal again. I'll have to fill the car up with gas today, and we'll see how the mileage is doing.

I filled the gas tank today. Total mileage for 271 miles was 17.7. Piss poor, but I haven't been making any long trips, it's been mostly around town and a few short rides under 15 miles.

I changed the gas gauge / ammeter combination today. We'll see if that fixes the gauge problem.
