Do a search on E-bay for solenoid valves. Most nitrous solenoids are real overpriced.

i agree but where do you get a solenoid valve for a good price that is rated for -100 deg liquid nitrogen temps and over 3000psi (i know you dont run it that high but im pretty sure they can go that high)

I didn't see any mention of liquid nitrogen or 3000 psi.

Comparing liquid nitrogen to nitrous oxide is like comparing apples to oranges. Liquid nitrogen is considered a cryogenic liquid and cannot be stored by high pressure alone. It has to be refrigerated to stay in liquid form for any length of time. Nitrous oxide on the other hand only takes approx. 1000 psi at room temp to hold liquid form.

shelbyplaya,
I'm pretty sure the parts in the nitrous solenoid would work fine with CO2 as it is fairly non reactive (it has to be to be used as a shield gas in welding applications).
Your main concern should probably be opperating pressure. You need to find out what pressure range to expect out of your CO2 canister over the tempreature range it's likely to see and compare that to the specs for the brand and model solenoid that you have. I'd imagine you could email the manufacturer for the information.
If the rated pressure for your solenoid and the pressure of your CO2 supply match up then you should be fine.
Hope This Helps,
Tony

yes you can use nitrous solenoids for co2.

tank pressure can be as high as 2500 psi in nitrous and co2 tanks before the safety valve blows.
