thinking about getting a devil's own progressive kit. (Reaper has been the inspiration with his sneakyness and improvement in performance---awesome job man). but i have a few questions to ask before i really get this thing goin on.

ok from what i understand this stuff does away with having to buy high octane fuel/additives whatever. is injecting water and alcohol into your motor safe? as in longevity for you engine?

i would like to think of the kit as a helper in cooling as well as an octane boost at high boost levels.

how much alky/water mix do you guys typically burn through (week/ month)?
would i be burning a gallon a month? week? day? get my drift? if it turns out more expensive that high octane fuel is it worth it.

i have a 86 glh, 2.5CB, forged pistons, ported 782 head, MP cam (314) S70 turbo, 255lph pump, +40's, NPR intercooler, built a413, and awaiting a stage 5 cal (88-89 electronics). combo good for a little alky/water?

what will this do with my A/F ratio at high boost? (yes, a little richer)
what about low boost? (below 10, so i stay out of the alky mix)

i know its a lot but a lot of you have good experience with this stuff.
thank you
zach

Zach,
I don't have as many mods as you but I love my devil's own kit. I'm running stock 2.5 T1 with a garrett, 255lph pump and exhaust stepped from 2 1/4" up to 3". Non intercooled.
I just run the winter washer mix (50/50) and a 10# nozzle with a progressive kit. 18 psi with stock injectors, 89 octane and base timing at 14. Try that without water injection...lol.
The amount you use will vary based on how aggressive your driving is. No matter how much you use I don't think you can lose as far as cost goes.

yeah, i got a progressive kit, got it on last week.

got a few questions, did you take your spark plug gap down? what to?
im gettin a backfire at high rpms with ngks (stock heat range) @ .035.

i also have champion 12s and autolight 63's (2 steps colder).

i love the kit btw, just got to get rid of this pesky misfire. gonna try and gap the plugs less.

I would gap the plugs less.

What boost are you running?, What Nozzle size are you using? and What mix/alky are you using?

The alky should not harm a thing as its not like your running alky all the time, only when needed/turns on(but if your A/F is droping off the map/below 10.0 then it will go past the rings and into the oil). The A/f will go lower, possibly too much if you dont really need the extra fuel(this could be your misfire prob).

I dont think there are any off the shelf washer fluids that are 50/50, most would be 40% AFAIK.

If you dont have a wideband it hard to say what nozzle/mix you should use, then to gap accordingly

i have a 2.5CB, boost is just about whatever i want, trying to get to 25psi.

i took the gap down from .035 to .027, not missing at all now, running 18psi. for A/F, i have no clue at all, except i check the plugs every 100-150 miles, no signs of detination (pre), nice light brown color almost read.

mix -special -20 washer fluid (hear its perfect 50/50 methanol/water mix)

i got a stage 5 computer, +40's, 255, AFPR (40psi idle,75@ 20psi). i know im not going lean and i haven't run into a rich nock, and i smell my oil and it doesn't seem out of the norm

base timing at 12 degrees

the miss seemed to go away but i turned it down to 18psi, so i don't know yet.

7gph nozzle

tuning with a pyrometer is that crap at all? thinking about getting one, i have nothing at the moment and need something, (and to scrape up the money)
