No, a different thermostat will not change your 1/4 mile times.

If your talking thermostat only, its possible as the engine runs colder, more fuel and the intake charge is also colder.

18 psi will require +20 injectors and a custom computer cal from TU to correctly run them or you will run rich otherwise. I run them now but when I had my old turbo, I used a afpr and turned the fuel pressure down to around 35 psi for 12 pounds of boost. Then turn the fuel pressure up when turning the boost up but like I said, if you run do this, you run rich around town and the gas guage moves faster than the speedo,
Right now with my new turbo, for 12 psi, I have my base at around 50 and its still lean at wot and rich around town so I have ordered a new computer.

either:
- +20's and an afpr
- +20's and a custom cal
- +40's and a custom cal

the cal setup's will cost more of course but you'll reap more benefits

How about do the better things first, like upgrading the exhaust to atleast 2.5'' with no cat or muffler will yield more power gains than going to 18 PSI on the stock exhaust.

Also people, take a look at his car....an 86 shelby charger. This means a T1 log car, no intercooler. 18 PSI and the pistons will have a meltdown, also no one even mentioned about the overboost factor either!
So, my advice....read up on thedodgegarage about the T2 conversion for your car and do it. Once you are intercooled running 14 PSI upgrade your exhaust to atleast 2.5'' as mentioned before....or do it at the same time as the conversion. If you don't feel like doing the T2 conversion you can always keep the log intake but run alcohol/water injection to achieve 18 PSI but this can get costly and it's not as good.
After these mods your stock A525 tranny might take a dump too, look into swapping to an A520 or A555 from any 87-89 5 speed car. But at the same time you might just want to find a T2 engine to swap in anyway as your 86' has lightweight rods and will snap with any decent amount of power.
Hopefully I have shed some light on the situation.

I saw it was a log car, thought I had put go to the Dodge Garage, must have been someone else, doh!

4 mpg, not bad, hehehehe. My B250 gets 9-10 mpg, thats why its only a summer driver, and rarely at that.

I don't see where you told him that...??? But maybe it's something you thought you wrote but forgot to put it in there....I've done that many times myself

Yeah, big blocks don't shine on the gas mileage department, but they shine other places
