I have a few stock fuel pumps lying around, (not sure if they are TI or TII) I had the idea of using a fuel pump, and the boost control solenoid hooked up to computer to come on at 18psi (fwd s5 cal) to control when the system sprays, a relayed switch to activate the pump. a few questions, would i need to have a return line for the pump, for when the pump is on but the system isnt spraying (car hasnt reached 18psi). i figured a good way to do this would be to hook the water feed into the in part of the solenoid and then have the "on" position feed the line to the nozzle and the "off" position to a line that runs back to the tank. Do you guys think this would be a good setup, avoiding the use of a pressure switch and having to buy a pump. also is the return line necessesary?

I think a fuel pump is way overkill for that. Not to mention the pump is meant to pump fuel, not water.. Water would probably cause it to rust out bad. I know that's what happens if you try to use fuel injectors to inject water, they rust open/shut in short order..

I dunno about alcohol helping there.. The FFV vehicles ran 85% alcohol, and had to have stainless steel fuel rails to prevent rust.. Sounds like it makes things worse. I would think it'd take an alcohol like ethylene glycol, which we all know creates a huge white cloud when it burns..

definately need stainless injectors (I believe Lucas makes some). I've also heard of some good luck running wd-40 added into the water. (I'm not recommending it, I haven't done it, but just relaying what I've read). I've also seen a ford guy just run multiple windshield washer pumps in series.

On my previous setup, I used a stock T1 (same as T2) pump and a stock regulator and a return line and 3 cold start injectors. Used it for over a year with no problems, although the alcohol got cloudy.

Don't know what will happen with water instead of alcohol.

The current setup uses misting nozzles, the same T1 pump (yes, the one taken out of the previous setup) and no return line. Here is More Info

Nice pictures, but with those things stuck that far into the manifold, isn't that going to obstruct and disrupt the airflow in a bad way?

so DbltTrbl, you were spraying straight denatured alky? ive been very intrested in duplicating your setup since i first seen it, but have hit a wall because everyone is telling me that the injectors will rust shut. did you ever run into that?

It's best to use brass, because methanol has no effect on it. the nozzles from www.mcmaster.com work the best for fine atomization of the solution even at psi as low as 40psi.

I guess there is some effect on airflow, but I don't think the upper part of the runners are a bottleneck.

Yes, straight denatured for now.

When I had the original setup in the shadow, it had a return and the alky got cloudy. The current misting setup has no return and the alky is crystal clear.

One if the 3 original Cold Start Injectors I used to use on the shadow did clog or rust after a long period of time without being used.

I don't yet know the long term effect on the misting nozzles yet, but I'll tell you in a year or so.

I was planning on using a 5th injector to spray water into the intake tract. So is this a bad idea then?
