Hi,
I have an 89 turbo caravan, and it makes some noises on deceleration.
We have narrowed it down to the bell housing area.
A look underneath revealed, well, what you see there. This bracket is like swung-back away from the transmission where it obviously belongs. Now sometimes when I am accelerating, the whole cabin shimmys right and left a little. This is sporadic.
Also when I let off the gas completely from like 2k rpm's+, or wind it up, there is a loud clattering that does not sound like valves or piston rods when it (the engine) winds down.
Thom thinks its the flexplate, and the tranny not being properly attached to the motor.
To further support this theory, tonight as I was parking it, the van was rolling forward like a very small amount as I threw it into reverse. It made an even louder clank-clank-clank, like 5 or 6 times I heard it before it stopped.
My question is, is not having that tranny to engine bracket on properly enough to cause all the symptoms I have listed?
or are there missing/loose bolts on the flexplate?
Thanks for your input!
paul
OH, and there is a picture of a vaccum hose sitting on the battery that comes from the throttle body and goes i dunno where, does anybody here know?
