i bought my car used as most of us did. didn't know anything about it at the time. just finishe getting my new wngine back together and in the car ready for start up(stayin with t1 log till $$$$) but i wanna know if my 525 has a molyplate already. how can i check this with out opening up my trans? i have a built bottom end short of nice pistons but have a common block and will be changing pistons and goin t2 with by summer of next year. but for now any way i can check ?? oh yea it is a 86glh if that makes and diff.

I was in the same situation sorta. I bought a fresh hybrid tranny, but wasn't sure if they put a moly plate in when rebuilt. While looking at it with the end cover still on, it was extremely hard to tell. Final conclusion was that it didn't have one. But anyway, best way to check I would say is to pull the fill plug out, shine a light in and see if the plate in there is reflective. My stock plate was and the moly plate is a mate finish. Thats about the best you can do without pulling the cover off.

wow thanks for the info pretty easy and in my case that would be no plate
