Hey everyone. I have kind of a situation on hand. My omni has been for sale n such, and I didn't want it to sit in my yard and rust away while it was trying to sell so I had let my cousin drive it for a work car everyday because he needed it. Well aparently something happened to the tranny last Friday where he blew about a 3 - 4 inch hole in the top and side of the tranny. I mean literally I can see the flywheel n clutch. Now it is a 85 Omni GLH. I wanted to know what kind of transmission I could buy to swap it in. I live in Ohio, so I was unsure if I could use a N/A tranny or not. Let me know on what yr and model car I could try to find a transmission for I could put in without any modification. Thanks for your help...

The turbo boxes got a different final drive than the n/a boxes did.

Best thing to get would be a shelby charger/omni glh turbo transmission. But, you could really use any 5 speed l-body transmission and not have to modify anything.
