Hi,
My 89 CSX has had this "problem" just about since it was new. The only time it went away for awhile was when a new clutch was installed, but then it came back.

the "problem" is that there is a "shirrrring" noise made when the car is in neutral. If I push the clutch pedal in and let it out (still in neutral) this noise goes away.

It sounds as if something is rubbing. (I, honestly, don't know enough about clutches/transmissions to be more specific.)

Is there an adjustment that can make this go away? or, am I such a horrible driver that I somehow caused this to happen.

Any help/info/suggestions/opinions on what to look for would be very helpful to me.

thanks again.
DG

that noise sounds like your throwout bearing. when your driving do you keep your foot on the clutch pedal? even a little pressure will prematurly wear the throwout bearing.

Joe,

As far as I can tell, I keep my foot off the clutch. perhaps I'm wrong.

either way, thanks for the info and I'll see if that is the problem. At least now I have a direction to go in.

have a great day,
DG
