I have a newer shifter in my shadow with a 520, the only diffrence is that there's no reverse lockout, it takes about 1 day to get used to, other than that, i love it, i made myself some teflon cable bushings, and cut an inch and a half off the top of the shifter, i still need to move the ball up in the shifter, but it shifts way better than stock.

So the later shifters have no reverse lockout? Or is it just different, and not hooked up in your car?

The later transmissions have the reverse lockout in the transmission. They don't let you go into reverse from 5th.

Finally as promised....
Here is a few pics of the 520/555 style short throw I make. It uses the same ideas as the 90+ unit......

And of course the fully funtional reverse lock-out.....

So,what do you guys think???
Dont even ask how I(always have)attached the lock-out ring to rest of the mechanism. Cause you will laugh at first then think to yourself how thats actually a good idea.....

Nice, but I'm not sure it will fit in my car. I'm still using the stock center console, and it rests on the base of the shifter as it is now. Adding 1" would just make it worse. So I'll have to pass. Killer design though!

I just bought one of the shifters from lotashelbys, this thing is awesome! It feels great and my hand falls right onto it since he angled it toward the driver slightly. This thing is great! And I can still use the stock shifter knob and my boot fits over it perfectly!

well..after driving the '88 Shelby Z that I'm trying to aquire(it has an '89 shifter already in it)...I think I'm going to have to get one of these. I got spoiled with the current car I'm driving('88 T-bird Turbo Coupe) witht he direct linkage on the T-5...I LOVE it!!! It doesn't even have a short throw in it, but the shifter feels VERY nice. So, when I went to drive the Daytona...OMG...I couldn't beleive how long the throw was! I hit my elbow on the side of the seat when I went to go shift to second gear, not cool! Well...I gotta own the car first...so give me a little while, but I suspect one of these units will find it's way in to my car...

the neon guys have been doing this for a couple years now. basic principle is to move the pivot point of the shifter.

Actually the MOPAR Performance shifter you can get(or I should say used to be able to get) for the 1st gen Neons was a direct bolt-in for our cars and utilized a spaced under the ball pivot and a longer shift rod under that to achieve this. You can get the SRT-4 one and make it work, but the whole mounting brakcet is uselss to us...only the shifter part. BTW, this will only work ofr the 3-plane trannies...not the 4-plane like the one pictured above.
