I have a SC with about 120,000 miles on the manual trans. My brother gabe doesnt think it can hold 11 or 12 psi .Im sure there is many out there that have ran that much boost with the same transaxle. What does everyone think on this?

The original tranny from my car is sitting in the garage with 3rd gear making noises, and the one in the car now doesnt want to down shift to first when auto-xing.

i *might* be tempted to say that with the Stage-II LM bad things happen to this tranny.

Hasn't been a problem for me. I think it's one of these things where the driver has a lot to do with it. The dif is weak on a 525. A lot of burnouts will probably make it die. I've also heard from several people that they are especially prone to falling apart on a hard decel. I almost never burn out and I always double-declutch so maybe this has helped me so far. Certainly a 525 is near its *rated* limit on a GLHS but I know of some people on this board that have gone, I believe, into the 12s on a 525.

Add a grainger and you will probably put more torque through the 525 than any GLHS on computer control (MP or not). People have done this. It's a case of handle with care. Know that your tranny is limited and if you use it in anger plan for its replacement!

well over 120K on my old 525 from my GLHS and I had her up to 25psi a few times and twice a spike to 28psi... turbo made siron sound at that level shortened up my vacuum lines and eliminated my spiking.. its now in a 12-14psi heavier 84 Chrysler Lazer XE and still goin strong! No cromoly endplate.. stock as far as I know.. my secret was runnin 10w30 mobile 1 synthetic Id always fill the tranny with the drivers side on the sidewalk and pass side on the street and jack up the car even higher up on the drivers side... fill till it spilled and never had any problems other than clutch replacments.. saab 5th injectors are lots of fun

I don't think the 525 is as weak as people say. I drove the crap out of my Shelby Charger back when I was young and dumb. I had really good luck with my 525 until the F-150 pushed me into the sidewalk. After getting the car back on the road, I drove it for around 3000 miles. What I didn't know was most of the oil had leaked out of the tranny. I never saw an oil spot under the car where it sat for over a year. So, it must have leaked out during the tow home from the wreck! I really think I drove it for 3000 miles with 1/10 of the oil it needed. Those weren't easy miles either.

i think the actual gears and case are OK but the shifter, and rods blow! mine has taken a little abuse and 159000 miles and still would be good enough for a adult driver. my teenage driving would kill it in a month.

I've been running from 16psi to 20psi w/ a 525 and haven't had any problems. It has the cro-moly end plate, tranny girdle, and solid bobble strut, with a heimed linkage to boot. It was shifting weird for a while, I checked the fluid which was a little over full and let it drain to the fill flug and now it shifts pretty darn good.

My 1985 Dodge GLHT had been abused before I bought it ( extremely low fluid in the tranny) but it seems that she takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. If this tranny was so crappy, I wouldn't be driving it right now, but would be looking for a new tranny to put in it.

I haven't been to either events, but I have also just bought the car. Before now, I always thought all Mopars were junk.
Needless to say, I now see I was wrong. I will be going to more events, now that I actually own a Mopar car.
