Got tired of dealing with the sloppy shifting and stuff so I decided Id service it. I also grew enough balls to drop the valve body and do this: Shift Kit Page

Im also gonna use type F fluid. Gonna meaning I was just torquing the pan bolts back down when mother nature decided to open up on me. So I dont even know if I destroyed the trans or not but we will see.

So heres a couple shots of the magnet in the pan... I think this one might have been a little worse than the shadows, but at least there were no big pieces of anything.

Also is it normal for the edge of this casting to be all rough like this?

What all did you service? Did you adjust the band while you were in there?

The casting is rough and is no prob

I dropped the valvebody and did the mod to it as shown on that page. I adjusted the bands and set the tv cable as it is supposed to be. And of course new fluid and filter. Filter is the champion labs filter from autozone and I used supertech type F fluid.

Anyway, I went out in the rain anyway and finished it up. After midnight if that tells you how much I wanted to get it done. And let me tell you what, the difference in the way the trans acts now is like night and day. SOOO much better. Thats just my first impressions with driving it around the block. Ill say more when I drive it to work tomorrow. The thing just leaps to the next gear at WOT now. I think if I had a decent exhaust and intake with a little more boost id be chirping gears.

Oh yeah, I also put a drain plug in the pan. $1.50 for the plug and a nut at napa, I didnt buy one of those $8 kits. It looks hideous all welded in and everything but hey, it beats dropping the pan with a gallon of fluid in it.

Now all it needs is a nice cooler and inline filter.

Yea that stuff is so much thinner coming out of the bottle, its like it was made for transmissions with lower tolerances and such. I know the factory power steering fill in my tbird is type f though...

I think Im gonna try this on the shadows trans today, except try to save as much of the ATF +4 in it as I can, cause I did just change the fluid a few thousand miles ago.
