clutch problems (broken?)

The clutch doesn't disengage until the pedal is nearly on the floor. I checked the adjuster and it is still in good shape and is working fine with a few teeth left to go. I also checked the routing of the cable and everything seems in order.

I can start the car in or out of gear but when I start letting the clutch out in 1st or reverse it chatters and shakes like crazy.

sounds like time for new clutch assy. no bfd, a couple hrs and bam it can be all good again
