A525 convert to cable shift?

i've heard you could use a the assembly from a cable shifting transmission to replace the rod shifting the A525, is there any truth to this?

you can get the shift linkage from an 84 to 86 Daytona or Lancer that had a manual trans, it would be cable shift and would cable shift and 525. But what I would think would be needed is the mounting hardware on the trans for the cables, I know that there were holders, and I do not know if you would have to modify either the mounting hardware or the transmission mounts to get it to work. But I would think it would be almost like a 520/555 swap. Which I would use the 520/555 shifter/cables for that setup.
