k guys i have two different clutches that im working with, for an a-565 tranny. first one is the spec clutch that came with the tranny when i bought it, looks a little used but not bad...just dont know how hard the guy was on it before i bought it. ...then i have a centerforce clutch that has barely 1000 miles on it from my daytona.... which one would you guys recomend that i use?
now im building what i hope will be a pretty beefy motor...
all forged internals, stage 63 cam FWD, +1 valves, 60mm turbo,A-565 tranny, 3" exhaust, stage 5 cali from FWD, water meth injection (snow performance) looking to be around 400 hp...i hope but we shall see.. anway let me know.

I think he means A568. But I have used the CFDF clutch and I was not thrilled with the performance of it. It will work ok but does not like high boost levels.

sorry your right i meant the A-568, i think the guy i bought the tranny from said it was the spec-v clutch.....i know this is also a car..but im not sure, never heard of spec clutchs, and i agree havent heard to many wonderful things about the center force clutches either...guess i'll have to get a new one, looking at boost levels 22-25 psi... maybe more.dont know yet till i do more testing...thanks for the input.

Here's a recent write up on a clutch that should meet your needs.
installing a 4 puck race clutch and yellow PP
I am sure if you search you will find other write ups.

I've been trying to find the right clutch for a while now. So with that kind of power you are thinking of making you will need a serious clutch. 4 puck or perhaps a mcleod rev lock. It won't be a fun daily driver most likely as you'll need a beefy pressure plate to hold that power. I don't know exactly what you'll need, but I know what won't work, a stock clutch won't work, the centerforce you mentioned won't work, the TU ultimate kevlar won't work. There's 3 you can cross of the list.

I have no problem with my 4 puck with blue plate from TU, it's not near as much of an on/off clutch as I thought it would be, you can slip it on takeoff just fine. I have about 350 WHP in my shadow, holds good.

Does it hold good with slicks on the race track? After a good burnout and a launch? Or are you talking about on the street?

If its a Spec 5 then you should take some pictures and post them up to prove it is.
If its not a spec 5 then its probably not enough. Spec 5 is solid hub sintered iron disc with a mediocre plate. Basically like the Rev lok but solid hub.

This thread caught my attention as the drive train area has always been a sore area for me. Never tried a Centerforce and they are made about 14 miles from where I live. I haven't done my own work for about the last 5-6 years. Son-in-law and his brother rebuilt the last one. I couldn't maintain a clutch beyond 8 months, including the McLeod (lost two within 16 months). Finally we installed an RPS 4 puck ceramic and it has lasted almost 3 years. Have not dyno this engine but it is close to 400hp with 25psi. RPS no longer manufactures an application for the 2.2. Scott at Forward Motion informed me that they are working with Centerforce where Centerforce provides part and Forward Motion provides the remaining, can't remember the exact combination. The RPS has required that I carry a spare clutch cable at all times. Forward Motion has never failed me with product or advice. Give Mike or Scott a call and see what is up with clutch.
