I just got my mvb and remember hearing stories that the line pressure has been set too low on some off the units and needs to be turned up. Is this still true and how do I check the pressure?

The line pressure has been set too low on "some" units but I feel like "all" is more appropriate. I installed mine straight out of the box and it's shift quality was exactly like stock. You really have two options:

1. Send MVB to Gary Donovan "Relentless Performance" for modification (get in touch w/him and he will explain why) in short the MVB's were designed in the carbed 2.2 era.....things need to be "tweaked" to bring them up to turbo spec. I have done this to mine......best mod per dollar spent besides the G-Valve!

2. Adjust the line pressure yourself before install....which is done by turning the line pressure adjustment counter clockwise. You will still not be able to obtain the desired line pressure when fully adjusted out.....I tried!......it was a improvement mind you, but still not what I wanted or expected.

There is also a mod to make your tranny externally adjustable which I have done......it's nice to have but thus far I have found it not neccessary with the Relentless modded MVB as mine seems perfect.

Hope this helps

How much was the "tweaking" and what was the turn-around time on it? Sounds like the way to go, but I'm so ready to get this thing on the track that I might just throw it in there for now and pull it out and send it to Gary when I have a break. Gary- you readin this?

I'm not sure on this but I wouldn't think that the cooler lines are under the same pressure as the valve body passages as this just wouldn't make any sense. There are some tiny 1/16 plugs on the front of the tranny facing the core support......I believe the one in the center taps into a passage for pressure testing.....the problem is there isn't a 1/16 inch fitting to thread in to allow presssure testing, so something custom must be made.

1/16 NPT, a PITA to find!

you check line pressure at the kickdown port while the car is in second gear. Do it on jacktands at 1500-2000 rpm so that the pump is at full output.
