We just drove home a '92 Sundance N/A. Blown headgasket, got it for free.

Its got a 523 5-speed. Is this worth using at all in a turbo application?

It'll work with no problems. You'll just have high revs on the highway, like about 3000 at 65mph.

This might interest me then.

Call me stupid, but my '85 Tona with a a520 would be more fun with a numerically HIGHER final drive. I think its doggy off the line.

HMMM....

Keep in mind the biggest difference is only going to be seen in 5th gear. When you factor in the gear ratio of each individual gear (1st through 4th) with the final drive in that particular transmission, they are all *really* close from tranny to tranny. The exception to the rule is the 3.05 525, 3.85 520 and the 3.85 523.

Look at the individual gear ratios for each tranny (Gary has it on his site). Multiply each gear ratio by the final drive and you'll see what the overall gear ratio for each gear is for each tranny.
