OK, putting the tranny back in my car, got a few questions:

I had the flywheel resurfaced when I did the clutch about 10k miles ago, the flywheel has a mirror finish on it with no gouges or scrapes, is it ok to reuse without resurfacing?

Question 2: Do I need to apply any kind of lube to the throwout bearing before installing?

Question 3: I have poly sway bar bushings, I've heard there's a kind of grease you're supposed to use to keep them from squeaking...what kind of grease is this?

Please keep questions like this out of the lounge... There are topics for it. I moved it.

1.) If the flywheel is good, you do not HAVE to do anything... But for the $20 expense, it's worth it

2.) No you do not need to lube the TO bearing. I've done many trannies.. never did that

3.) Lithium grease for the poly components.

Do lube the collar that the TO bearing rides on, though.

Unless you're putting in a new clutch, you shouldn't have the flywheel turned. Turning the wheel is for getting rid of imperfections and getting a good surface for cltuch break-in.

Per,
The collar it rides on? You mean the shaft that the TOB slides back and forth on? And I am putting a new clutch on, but like I said, I had the flywheel turned about 10k miles ago and it still has a mirror reflection on it...

The TO bearing doesn't ride on a shaft, but rather a collar that goes around the input shaft. But yes, put some grease (graphite type, I believe) on it (and make sure it's clean before you do). Also check to make sure it's not scratched up too bad (sign of lack of lube). If it is, get a new one, or you can have a sticking throwout bearing.

A mirror finish means the prior clutch was all broke in, so you should have it machined again (which will make it not like a mirror, but rather leave a lightly rough surface).

The TOB usually comes prelubed. However, I did smear a light coat of antisieze on the collar that it rides on. I also put a little antizieze on the fork where the TOB clips attach.

Whatever you do, don't force the TOB on the fork and collar. Remove the clutch release shaft and fork from the case first.
