Does anybody know if there are dust shields between the block and the tranny on the 555's, like on the a-413's. My LeBaron had one of those split up the middle. So when the motor would rev up to 3000-3500rpm the 2 split ends would rattle against each other and it made a horrible noise, sounded like the motor was gonna blow. Anyway, my 89 daytona shelby is making an almost identical sound around 3500rpm. I was wondering if that might be the problem. I just picked it up last week. The guy i got it from said he thought it might be an exhaust rattle. Which would be the next place to look of this shield thing is a dead end. The 'tona has a brand new head with a valve job, new cv-joints(both sides), new front brakes and radiator. All put on by the previous owner. The guy said he was glad to sell it to someone (me) that has an interest in these cars. He really didn't want to sell it to some young kid who would just tear it up and not take care of it.

Thanks

Yes, all cars (should) have that shield.
