Just want to get some opinions on this. Probably the 2nd gear syncro is bad/going bad? It never grinds or anything. I just noticed that when I thought it was in gear(2nd) the past 2 mornings that it had either popped out or didn't go into gear. Thanks.

2 possibilities I can think of either the shift fork pad is worn out (probable) or the snap ring has broke and the 2nd gear has been pushed away from the syncro..but this would also give you problems in third gear too.

Yea, I was planning on upgrading the tranny soon anyways. Hopefully it'll last a while longer till I have the cash to get another one. Definitely gonna cut down on my track time. Thanks guys.

i had that same problem when i finished my 520 swap. clutch in, put it in 2nd, clutch came out and so did the shifter

so i just adjusted my cables according to the 2.2/2.5 FWD book and it works perfect.

that might be your problem

Yea, a buddy of mine asked if I checked any of the cables/linkages, which I haven't. I've gotta get a FSM for this thing cause the Haynes isn't cutting it. Do you happen to have a how-to on how that's done or can you scan/send me a copy out of the service manual you used? Thanks.

if it pops out when u get on it than its synchro's you could have stretched the cable which might need adjusting, remove the shifter console and you'll notice the adjustments, adjust while fully engaged in 2nd making sure you are getting full throw if that don't help than you'll have to dig deeper into tranny

It definitely doesn't pop out when I get on it in 2nd gear, so I guess it is an adjustment problem. I'll take a look at those linkages this weekend if I get a chance. Thanks for all y'alls help.

Ah, no problem. I haven't had any time to mess with it this weekend cause the rain and work. I did get on it a few times in 2nd at 20psi and it didn't pop out or anything, so that almost definitely means it's an adjustment issue.
