Son's car spit out the diff last night and a chunk got caught up in the bellhousing (timing window is much larger now). Anyway it's a 86 Turbo Z Daytona T1 with a 525. I have an 85 NA 525 and was wondering if there are any diferences or if it's good enough to use behind a stock T1 car??

TIA

I was reading in the Chrysler shop manual just last night and it did show some differences between the turbo and NA 525 trannys. There was a column for High-Tolerance Steel components. Seems like there was something about 1st and 2nd gear components and a few other things that were different.

Will look it up and give you the exact details this evening if you would like.

Let me know what you find. I have two to pick from. One is a NA the other is unknown but I'm checking.

The unknown trans came out of a 86 Shelby Charger and was driven to the "dismantler". (Some good news at last) Will have to check the spider gear pin before it goes in.

The Shelby Charger tranny should be ok to use but does not have all the goodies though as the Shelby Charger only had 175 ft lb torque. The Daytona's had more like 200 ft lbs. in the A525.

The Charger got the following High-Strength Steel Parts:
Intermediate shaft 5th gear, Intermediate shaft, ring gear, differential side an pinion gears.

Daytona's got these additional parts:
Input shaft and 1st & 2nd speed gear
