Hello List :

Since I am the seller of the T-Trac and it has been mentioned in a recent thread I thought I would chime in.
The T-Trac was originally designed and manufactured as a viable and economical replacement for what was on the market at the time.
The T-Trac was designed using suitable steel that has been case hardened for wear resistance. Since it is case hardened it tends to be softer than tool steel for example. I bring up this point because in a post it was mentioned that an insert bent when trying to install considerably heavier springs in place of the originally supplied springs.
This will happen to the T-Trac as well if an attempt is made to compress the springs without the spring blocks being contained and supported . WE are talking about approx. 1300 PSI of spring pressure with the supplied springs and possibly 3000 with the highest rated springs that were mentioned.
To attempt to compress the springs in any uncontained and uneven matter is not recommend because of the potenial for personal injury . This potenial is what caused a redesign of the T-Trac to eliminate the two small tabs that hold the unit together before installation. That method has been eliminated and replaced with a much more secure method.
To end my message I would like to applaud Andrew Richardson for posting to the list his opinion of the diff insert produsts that are available to us. It may have not been in my benefit but I have come to expect this kind of unabashed feedback form the various resources we have come to rely apon.
I also applaud Andy Bestor for introducing a diff package that address all of the weaknesses of our stock diff. The tool steel diff pin was a great idea.
If anyone has any other questions or comments do not hesitate to ask.

Lyle,

I applaud you for offering very nice products that are affordable. As you know already your braided oil/coolant lines are top notch. I do not feel that anyone could package that kit better than you.....especially for the price.

The T-Trac is a great alternative to some of the other products out there in that not everyone needs a Quaife or a upper end block type setup.

As designed/delivered the insert that I received from you would have been fine. Once I saw the large differences in the springs I was concerned that maybe the springs with the T-Trac would not be enough for my application (heavy Daytona). We did try to swap the springs to see if I could create any extra pressure and in doing so realized maybe I needed to upgrade to another kit that was designed to use such strong springs.

In all fairness to you and your product I did try to use mismatched parts (springs) that were not designed to be used with your block.....this is when I thought it was best to stick with a "package" therefore this is why I chose to switch.

I need to apologize for my comment of "inferior materials" as this was not a fair claim to make. In retrospect I was attempting to use springs that were not designed to be used with that insert. I do not have enough knowledge of metallurgy to be able to make such a claim and your explanation as to why makes total sense.

It was brought to my attention by a "block" competitor that the block I received from you was most likely a early design as they had seen the newer design and said it appeared to be improved over what I had.

I feel your product is a good one and priced very attractively and I applaud your contributions to the TD enthusiasts

Very well put by both, thanks for the comments!
I have long been a supporter of the braided turbo lines (and will continue to be, awesome product!) and what Turbonation has brought to our hobby. I make no claims that my diff units are any better than anyone else's, just a different idea. I too support anyone with an idea they want to try with these "block and spring" designs, as the combinations are virtually limitless.
Lyle went his route (I have a lot of respect for his inserts as well), I went mine and I applaud that. Hopefully nobody took any of the objective conversation as "bashing" and yeah, Andy makes a good point in that we used springs from my setup in a block combination that wasn't designed for them. I have also heard of the new "redesigned" t-trac units and the improvements that were made (a good step in the right direction IMHO).
Glad to see others out there trying these, it's amazing what the block and spring design is capable of...
Again, thanks for the discussion!

Andy

Sure - shoot me an email! I don't have many (maybe two) ready right now, the rods went to the CNC guy a week and a half ago so I should have a fresh batch of pins show up in the near future.
But yeah, email me and we'll go from there.
Thanks,

Andy
