So Yesterday I pulled out a A520 transmission from a 89' Daytona tbi car. I plan on using this to replace my A555 which only has 1st/Reverse *not sure whats up with that*. The yard I got it from is Pull n' Save in Spokane, Wa and they drill holes into everything to drain fluids, so I need to get those welded shut.. Anyhow onto the main reason for this thread. I want to make sure this tranny doesn't grenade like the A555 I have. Also I would like to know a good way to check over the tranny to know if its any good. *it spun smooth and the fork arm moved like glass.. As a disclaimer from this point of the thread forward I will be discussing some parts from vendors not associated with this thread.

Has anyone ever used the Omni Potent Parts that follow:

Chrome Moly Transmission Plate -SKU 1001
Blak Trax Limited Slip Differential (LSD) Unit -SKU 1002
Blak Trax LSD Kit -SKU 1003

I wanted to some user feedback and I am open to any ideas that you guys have seeing as I want a robust transmission I don't have to replace every year...

you could tap the holes and use them as drains for the oil lol

well one is right under the gearset.. and the other is kinda high up.. I assume thats the first one then they realized that they derped and made the second one.

As for the lsd, its cheaper then other ones plus I will only drive the car a few months a year... with very limited track time.. so mostly road warrior stuff

You should install a magnetic drain plug in the diff housing and change your tranny oil often, like once a year if you don't drive it much. Those types of lsd's put metal in you trans as they wear out.

should already have a magnet in the diff pan already, and after you are done installing those in that trans, that will be a fun car to tear up the streets

Transmission plate is fine.

Skip the block "LSD" unless you want metal shaving in your transmission oil.
Get the OBX LSD.

Less than 5000 miles on this unit.

WOW thats a screwed up dif forsure. Make sure the input shaft doesnt have too much play. Also look for excessive metal shavings in the trans. OBX is a great LSD and I have used in a couple cars with good success. I also find that using synthetic oil in the trans has extended the life of many of my 5 speed. Can't beat superior oiling.

I have had GREAT success with synthetic oil and havent notice as much *noise* as I did before in my a555. I honestly think it does make a difference. I was using 5w30 mobil 1 but have switched over to royal purple and its great stuff. Change my fluid every 15k or so with no issues.

Thread can be closed as the Transmission guy on the car discovered that the JY used a punch instead of a drill which damaged the ring gear.. FML
