I have a buddies car in my garage that is in need of some help. When he bought the car, the previous owner said that the valve body had fallen down and the tranny will not shift anymore. OK, so far what we did was put in a nice motor, everything hooked up properly, go to start, NO START! So I figure it's got to be the tranny, maybe it's out of position of stuck in a gear so it won.t start. I played with the shift mechanism to try and get it into park or neutral, but no luck. I pulled the tranny pan and now I'm not sure what to look for. PLEASE help. Anyone in the WINDSOR area know trannies and can help with this OR is there a specific page somewhere that gives detailed info on replacing valve body. Thanks to all that help with this.

Want my garage back! LOL.

Disconnect the neutral safety switch - it ought to start in any gear .. the car wont go anywhere as long as you keep the brake on .. unless your transmission is grenaded and somehow managed to seize along with the torque converter.. which is unlikely.

This switch is located near the shifter, correct? Thanks for the help, at least I will be able to get it started.
