Are these anti-spin pins normally pressed into the intermediate shaft? I can't get this one out and the manual says nothing about it. Can I just grind the pin off flush with the shaft and put a new pin in the hole that's on the other side of the shaft (180* from the original pin)? I can't get 2nd gear off until this pin is gone.

Thanks for any input,

No, they should come out. Use a strong magnet.

I don't think a magnet will pull it out. I can get a good grip on it with some needle nose pliers, but the pin does not move at all. I can't even get it to spin in it's bore it's so tight. The only other time I rebuilt an A555 was because of a cracked case. I found the thrust washers and snap ring in pieces as well as the anti-spin pin in the bottom of the case... So I guess that pin was loose...

Hmmm...well on the trannies I have worked on, it always comes out. The only thing holding it is the suction that results from the oil. Maybe try clamping on a pair of vise grips and walking it out.

Russ is correct, they are a loose fit pin but I have had a few occasions over the years where I couldn't get the pin out, no way no how.

I had to find a replacement shaft for one because it was for the thrust washer between 2nd and 3rd and with the pin in there you can't remove 1st, 2nd or the syncro assembly.

Couldn't I just put a new pin in the blind hole on the other side of the shaft and grind the old pin down with a Dremel? -being very careful not to grind 2nd gear or the shaft, of course

Thanks for the input,
