Hi all, i was reading on allpar that the best thing for the A568 is 5w30 oil and says basically the same for other 5 speeds, I just did a 5-speed swap on my daytona with a tranny out of a donor car, i lucked out and all the gears work great. My question is 5w30 the best things for these trannies? I was gonna get some redline 75w90 or whatever but held off because I wanted to look up what was appropriate or best for these.

Thanks in advance!

75w-90 would be very bad in these trannies, you'd probably have a really hard time shifting. I myself use 0w-20 in my tranny, Mobil 1 synthetic. I've heard a big debate over synthetic vs dyno oil in these trannies. synthetic is obviously better for bearing life. dyno is supposed to be better for the synchro's. Blend the two and have the best of both worlds..

The t5 in my mustang uses 5w30 but I am running GM syncromesh after seeing a lot of the guys on the mustang forums use it. Seems to work pretty well to me. Its not cheap but if you can find the Penzoil version you can save a couple bucks.

i use only GM Syncromesh in my Getrag 282 5-speed, and Valvoline conventional 5w30 in my A555. i've thought about trying Syncromesh in my A555, but so far i don't really have any reason to; the 5w30 seems to be great. besides, Syncromesh is like $10/quart!
