my GLH HO has a slight grind going into 5th, im pretty sure its the synchronizer ring. who hard is that to replace?

That is not very difficult at all to replace. Take the side cover off and then youcan get to the 5th gear asembly. you should just have to remove a snap ring and either a roll pin or hex lock screw to get the syncro assembly off. Try to get a page or two photo copied from your local dealer FSM so you know the exact procedure.

You sure its not your cables? 5th gear is at the end of the travel for both cables. I would check your bushings... same problem happened to me.

AHHHH CRAP!!! 525. Oh well.
