Don't use that trans in a 2.5L turbo application. The turbocharged application A-413's have an additional clutch or 2 in the drums and different governor weights to handle the additional torque output. There could also be differences in the planetary gears as well.

A friend of mine gave me a dodge tranny with the numbers 424-6-b, He didn't know what model of car it was, Would anyone tell me what these number stand for, like the 424-11-a stands for a-413. Would it work with a 2.2 89'shadow?

thax

If your axles fit in the differential and if the torque converter fits the front pump, it should work fine. I'm not sure if it'd matter if it's lockup or non-lockup.

Well back to this, I finally got a 2.5 engine by mistake, but to my luck the 89 model need a computer, I took it back to the shop and I hoping in getting the 2.2 89 engine. now the thing is that i rebuilt the 2.5 tranny, and Im wanting to know if it would fit on the 2.2 89 engine that I will be getting... This is what I have right now

89 dodge shadow
with a 2.5 93' engine and Tranny, which I need to return since I dont find the Computer on any junk yard. Since it would be an engine swap only will the 2.5 Tranny Break the 2.2 or Viseversa?

Thank you

it all works together and doesn't matter one bit. 2.5/2.2 transmission, engine computer, just slap that puppy together and go. no need to worry about a darn thing. the 2.2 trans and 2.5 trans are exactly the same!!!, the 2.2 computer will work just fine with the 2.5 engine. you won't notice any issues what so ever.

Just let you everything will swap like said above but it has to be turbo parts no mixing of N/a parts.

Also a 90 and up computer won't work in a 89 and down. Your computer years are 88-89.

The reason why im Changing my engine back to the 2.2 89 is because my engine surges. when hot, I have changed everything on that car, and I still get the same results. to mention I have the 2.2 coil running on the 2.5 which someone mention it was ok, just a bit hotter. I have my dodge sitting in the garage, and I dont know where to turn to. I figure If i was to take it to a mechanic he might just flip and order pieces I wont need.
Again its a dodge shadow 89 2.2 engine with a Swap 2.5 93' engine.
Please Help

Ok, if I wasn't confused, I am now.

What engine did your car originally come with?

Does it have a turbo on it-from the factory?

What have you done to it at this point and does it have the factory computer in it?

I'm going to guess you shadow isn't a turbo. If that IS the case, the engine and any trans you want to swap will be fine. You should have a distributor on both engines not coil packs like on newer cars (or Turbo III cars, which yours isn't I'm guessing). I'd probably just try to swap short blocks, and transmissions, leave the electronics alone.
