i am currently running a 604a in my 94 duster. i know these transmissions are garabage. the car is only used for bracket racing. i would like to go faster, but not at the demise of the cars bracket racing capabilities. the car only goes 9.80s in the 1/8th mile. any ideas

buy another car. Running a slow a604 can win you a lot of bracket races.

If you want a reliable, consistent tranny, switch to an A670. You'll probably even drop your ET a little too.

The only good trannnies for a 3.0 are the a670 and the a543. Unless ofcourse you want to beef up your a604, i've seen that done as well, takes a little work and some good cash but they can be built to handle some good power.

there is nothing wrong with a 604 trans. infact there's a lot of goodies you can do to them. In my shop I have more failed 413/670 than 604 about 2:1 more bad 3 speeds.

Just keep the fluid changed in the A604 and bracket race the car in "D". They are dead nuts consistant and WILL piss people off The first time I ever bracket raced I got to the semi-finals(knocking the same guy out twice..he had to buy back in)...The only reason I dind't get to the finals is because the car got hot, was slowing down and I didn't have time to change my dial before I had to face the track champion(who I had to chase...that was a new one for me too). I had a fun time and the car was also was within a couple hundeths as long as I dind't muck up the launch.

I got a .501 and a .502 light that day too(on a .500 tree)

BTW, what's up with the new RT system...???
