I am planning to do a RF axle on the 2.5L T1 Voyager (replacing with a OE replacement) now I have done plenty of axles in my day with no problem.. just curious if this one should be any different???

are there any catches to doing it or any short cuts etc???

the reason I am replacing it is cause when making a high speed left corner u can feel an AWFULL vibration comming from that side.. and it is not the ball joints or tie ends.. but with the axle in the car if u grab the shaft and pull from front to back (not in and out but pushing perpindicular form the axle) u can feel a slight loosness to the axle

I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10. Not horribly fun, but not the best way to spend the day. Should take about 2 hours your first time.

20 min. very easy job. I have 9th graders doing this exact repair as one of their lab requirements. even the slowest kid does the job in under 40 min...

Here's the directions I give the kids (I'll skip over the safety requirements like proper jacking and supporting proceedures)

1. remove wheel of axle to be serviced
2. install punch into rotor vents between caliper and caliper mount
3. remove spindle cotter key, and spindle nut
4. remove sway bar bolts to a-frame both sides and pull swaybar down 1-3"
5. remove ball joint bolt
6. separate ball joint from steering knuckle
7. hold shaft with one hand and pull steering knuckle far enough to get outer spines free from hub (get help if you don't have enough strenght)
8. place drain pan under transmission then remove axle shaft assembly...

reverse proceedure for installation...

torque spindle nut to 180 ftlbs
check and top off transmission fluid before vehicle leaves.

Axle nut was seized on my daytona, and I was replacing a seal that did not fit. 30 - 45 is more accurate, but take your time.
