Well my search for a light weight wheel has ended. These were one of the first ones I considered buying and I got quoted such a good price I decided to get them- $830- delivered!. I got the 15x7 for the front slicks and the 15x6.5 for the rear. The 7" rims weigh in at 10.5 pounds and have a back space of 5.125" and the 6.5" weigh 10 pounds even with a backspace of 4.875". Had to get the small tuner lug nuts but that is okay. Now I am trying to figure out what to use for a lightweight rear tire? I want it about 25" tall. What should I get for a speed rating on it? I think I will be hitting around 120MPH in the 1/4 mile so should I get one with at least that high of a rating? or since I am only going to be going that speed for a moment will a lesser speed rating be okay?

I remember when I worked at a tire shop our catalogs showed Michelin has a line of lightweight tires designed for Hybrid vehicles, although I don't know if they'd have the size you're looking for. I'd look for something in the neighborhood of 195/60/15, probably the closest you'll find to fit that wide of a wheel.

Before you throw them on can you weigh them yourself?
I don't really trust dealer's quotes or online quotes of those quotes.

Tirerack has the tire's weight on their website, you could sift through that.

The 195/60/15 was one of the sizes I was looking at and is about 5 pounds lighter than the 205/55/16 that is on the car right now. I'll look into the Michelons.
Oh yeah, I will weigh them when they get here. I already weighed the the 23x7 M&H slick- 13.5 pounds, factory 15" steel rim- 26 pounds and tirerack says the rear 16" tire on my car weigh's 25 pounds. Looks like I am going to lose around 75 pounds or so.

nice, 75lbs of rotating mass... that alone should make a HUGE difference! nice find. i'm positive the speed rating is for sustained speeds. don't hold me to it if something happens, but i think you'd be OK with just about any tire, seeing that you'll only be going 120 for a few seconds and not a long time.

The 7" rims showed up and they do appear to be about 10.5 pounds. Total weight with slick is 24 pounds- lost 15+ pound per front wheel and will lose 20+ on each rear.
