Hello All,

I did a Stops-Like-Hell 3 (SLH3) brake upgrade on my 86 Daytona last year and didn't have any problems really with the conversion....

BUT this year I thought I would do the same to my 87 GLHS CHARGER. I got everything I need including the complete VENTED rear disk brake caliper, hub, axel, rotor, etc. from a 91 Shelby Daytona.

What parts from what cars are needed to have a working emergency brake on an L body with an SLH3?

There is another option that most don't do. You can install 97 rear wheel cylinders inside your existing rear drums. I have done this and it works great. I have an 86 SC with The big 11 inch front spindles from a 90 Lebaron GTC-Vnt and the rear Caravan wheel cylinder swap and my car flat stops. A friend of mine has a WS6 T/A 2000 and he can't come close. Just something to think about. It is much easier and works extremely well.

Did you really mean '97' rear wheel cyls? From which car please, sounds like a good plan to me. Another option is to get the type of non-vented rear disk that uses the screw/wedge type emergency brake (before the small inner shoe design) that doesn't work very well from what I hear. That is spose' to be a bolt in w/emergency brake for a SC.

Sorry if I wasn't very clear, most people turn their noses up when I recommend this. The rear brake wheel cylinder from a 97 caravan is what you will want. The part number is Raybetos WC370051. I will warn you they look like they won't fit. Trust me they do and work excellent. I installed mine with new rear pads and they fit fine. I have been running this setup for close to 20,000 miles with zero issues. It is a bolt in and will cost less than $50 and take less than 2 hours easily to install.

Ill give it a try Pat, I really will. I have some concerns about using the rear rotor setup solid or vented. Even with the complete SLH3, by the book, it seems that everybody reports premature rear wheel lockup in an emergency stop situation. I sure don't need any of that. I'm thinking that the Mini van front calipers/bracket with a late model Daytona Master cyl would be a good combination for better stopping. What Master cyl are you using please?

I am using the 24 mm master cylinder. The rears are definitely doing more work but they don't lockup in emergency stops. The thing I worry about now when I hit the brakes is what stuff in my car is going to hit the floor, spill, etc. I think I have a few pics of the front setup of my car but not the rears as all I changed was the wheel cylinders and brake shoes.
