Then I'm sort of surprised that seems to have 14" wheels on the car....doesn't the drivers side door sticker have a pressure rating for 15" tires attached to it?....ES cars had the optional 15's ...and they were of course...alloys........and I do have 205's mounted on my Turbostars

OK......I'm going to pick your brain here.....if you look at your ownership for the car.....look at the VIN# for the car......you want to look at the 6th digit in the serial number......it should be either a 1 thru 7(no #3 is used)...1 is economy, 2 is low line, 4 is high line, 5 is premium line, 6 is sport/special, 7 is performance.... 1 thru 4 will have 14" wheels ....5 thru 7 will have 15" wheels...

There shouldn't be a clearance issue at all.....your wheels are.....steel?....14" steel wheels should be 5 1/2" wide. That width steel wheel, the max tire that the manufacturer would recommend is the "195". The 15" wheels (alloys) are 6" wide and the max tire that is recommended is a "205". I'm still wondering why you've got 14's on a carline that has the V6 engine...that driveline was used on the higher scale carline (LE, LS).

"Carline".......in your case...is "D" body...in that body style there are the different Series...(those were the six different numbers that I mentioned to you)...yours is the Highline...(#4).....that series did use the 14" steel wheels, but you've got a premium line (#5) driveline(V6 engine).... one that gets the larger wheels & tires (the 15's)...

I guess not so, to Chrysler.....perhaps the original purchaser ordered the car that way.....anyway no matter.....as far as your tires are concerned....you CAN get 205's on the 5.5" wide wheels....but take a good look at how far the sidewalls will be ballooned out. A 70 series tire will have a taller sidewall so there will be more room to flex, the smaller the sidewall (eg. 60series or 50series) the sidewall will have less flex and not be as happy on a thinner wheel.

my uncle bought a '93 Acclaim that has the 14" steel wheels with metal wheel covers, and the 3.0 V6 and A604, so i guess it's not that uncommon.
