89 Daytona Shelby. Stock sway bar.

Bushings fit the bar perfectly.

But the busings is too big to fit in the subframe and I can't bolt the bracket back on. I know it doesn't look align, but it is. If I bolt on the bracket by FORCE, the bushings will start to deform... What's the deal?

The black stuff were what's left of my old bushings, so I can't really compare parts.

the shelby bars were a little different than the rest. What brand/size bushings did you buy? You may be able to use what you got buy using the brackets off another pre-91 TD, or get the inner bushings meant for the shelbyz brackets.
later,
Cindy

He doesn't have the D shape bushing upper brackets that came on any 86-88 stub strut kframe with big sway bars not just the ShelbyZ's. So geting regular d-shape bushings only will just have them flopping around. But I sugggested just doing this.

Which are just ES 1 1/4" Dshaped bushing kits with custom bottom plates with metal stock from Lowe's.
But that's too much work for him I guess.

no, he doesn't. The double pivot control arm kframes never got them. The PB bushings squish like that. I was going to just run a couple washers under the bracket to space it out a bit till I ran into other issues.

I have not heard of this issue before. I know mine and Energy Suspension swaybar bushings are the same as factory style for 1984-88. I'll see if I can get a factory 89 to look it over.

Makes me wonder why Dodge changed the bushing area when they changed the a-arm style. Crazy.

They changed it because they changed the whole kframe. The 89+ kmember is much wider and stiffer. The early kmember is a skinny wet noodle in comparison.

These pictures is the best I can do for now. It's dark, raining, and I can't get good lighting under the car.

First, the FLAT side of the bushing was toward then engine. I took several pictures of that and put the FLAT side toward rear of the car. And yes, the bushings was aligned to the brackets and subframe, can't really miss that notch. Either of them don't change the fact that the bushings seems to be too big.

You can't really see it, but the bushing is deformed and no longer have full contact with the bar at some area. The bracket is not even bolt on all the way yet.

Bushing bolt on without the bar.
