90 daytona 2.5 turbo

sometimes when i pull the ebrake handle it makes an alarming SNAP sound (more like a very loud CLICK) and seems to lose tension and skip a few inches farther than it should..almost like the cable snapped or something

but i can immediately release it and apply it again and it works fine

anyone see this before?

i have the covers off on the center console so i can see the e brake mechanism...i even saw it when it did the funny thing, but its kind of complicated and i couldnt see anything wrong

I'm thinking it's the self adjuster inside of it? Mine does it too from time to time. Still works fine though!

My 90 daytona does this as well, I believe its just that your pulling it too fast and it doesn't catch right, I have not looked in depth about it since mine hasn't broken, although a few times I thought I did.

This is too funny, I thought it was just my car.
My 90 has done this since the car was new,it seems to be about once every couple of months and I just release it and pull the handle again and everything is fine.
I have never figured it out, which would be hard since you never know when it will do it, and there were no TSB's issued related to the problem.

I'd say the ebrake cable may come off the handle some day soon.

My 92 daytona had the cable snap off. It was a bitch to replace

I don't know about that, my parking brake has been doing that for 18 years and I use the parking brake all the time.

I use my parking brake several times a day out of habit, even on the smallest of hills. It still does this from time to time and has never failed or caused trouble. I just pull it again and it's as though nothing happened in the first place. I thought it was just my car but apparently we all know of this problem and some have experienced it like myself! I guess we can just call it a common annoyance from here. My parking brake still works great!

I have rear drum brakes BTW.

A long story. I had this issue with my lebaron (it would never apply) and came to a conclusion it was a bad handle. I bought a used one from a board member here to replace it with but found before installing it the real problem with the lebaron by looking at my new one. I fixed the one on the car and still have this one. The arrow points to the piece that is stuck. free it up with some brake cleaner or blaster or what ever you have.

This piece ratchets on the gear the arrow points to. If it is sticking or slow to catch the brake won't come on.

It can be cleaned on the car and not removed. Then lube it up with something that won't get hard or sticky with age
