i want to do the caravan conversion on the front of my 88 shadow and also convert the rear to disc.. and as always, i need to do it as cheap as possible.. what do i need? so far here is my list..

- master cyl. from caravan
- front calipers and brackets (calipers as cores for new ones)
- new caravan rotors
- proportioning valve for rear line
- complete rear set-up for shadow???

what can i get the rears off of? i looked up in autozone's computer that shadows had a 4 wheel disc option.. but buying 100% new stuff will cost too much.. so i want to find cores and brackets from something else..

any tips? or anyone got a set-up they're willing to part with?

thanks,
nick

there's your prop valve and rear disc assemblies and ABS if you really want the ultimate braking capacity

vented, not slotted

really the big vented discs are overkill on a shadow Unless you were road racing or Seriously canyon-carving

BUT

if all the parts are similarly available and roughly the same price, then its really not much more work ... so go for it if you Want

well go to the junk yard and get some parts, just look at all the cars and whatever one has the best rear brakes grab those and the prop valve

1989 and newer has a better e-brake setup with the rear disc system! i concur that solid rotors are the way to go on your car unless you are running 11 front rotors (that go with the vented rear disc). regular caravan brakes have thinner rotors so they don't take heat as well as the stock shadow units. also, if you are worried about cost....stay away from slotted and cross drilled rotors....the gains (if any) are not worth the extra cost. the right brake pads (aka ceramic) will be the best!
