which 225 tires on ninjas

hey folks,

i'm just in the progress of making out some new tires for my 92 daytona. they are going on the ninjas. i currently have 225 55 R16 on my pumpers, but i dunno if that size is a good choice!? which 225 would you put on the ninjas, i'm thinking of 225 50 or 55.

let me read some opinions,

225/50/16 will be very close in Diameter to the stock 205/55/16

I love my Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's. TireRack has the above size in stock for $153 ea.

I don't know from actual experience, but I would say NO. I have some 225/50/16's on a set of 16" Pumpers (pumpers & Ninjas are about the same in width) and the sidewall buldges out some on them. 245" would be worse yet and then the 45 series would really make it a PITA to mount. That is just my opinion. Maybe someone else has personal experience with that size and could give a better answer. Also compare tire sizes here:

if you dont use stock dimensions on the R16 (say, 50) your speedo would be off, right?
i have 55 on my wintertires and found vmax to be like 150, which was discussed in another thread and kinda turned out to be incorrect.

using the posted calculator i get the following comparison result for the stock 205/55/R16 dimension:
For 50-series tires, you will want a tire that is 226 mm wide

seems like the 225/50/R16 is the right choice.
what ya folks think, would 225/55/R16 like i have it now up my speedo by +5%?

I just put on 225/50/16's on my BBS's and they are a perfect height. Check em out on my thread.."What do you guys think?" I love em and I bought these ZRi tires for 88 bucks a piece. Not bad for Bridgestone High Performance tires
