Anyone ever have this happen, Car has a aftermarket grant wheel. PS is long gone on the car and previous owner had just looped the PS lines. Of course the wheel is hard to turn but not really all that bad.

Last night while making a turn something in the column goes SNAP and I lose all steering ability. Towed the car off the street and to my work parking lot. Gotta go tow it home tonight. I tried pressing on the steering wheel really hard while turning and got the slightest bit of movement from the tires but nothing more.

Anyone ever had any similar break? I'm thinking that the steering wheel adapter plate stripped out. Or should I be making my way to the local boneyard for a steering column?

Car is a 89 Lebaron GTS

ETA.... Got her home and took off the wheel, sure enough the splined piece that the wheel attaches to is completely stripped out. Hope autostoned has these kits available.
