well, 10mm from sidewall to sidewall and 8mm difference in diameter

40% of 215 = 86
40% of 205 = 82

so, 8mm difference in diameter (assuming same tire brand, style, tread depth, etc))

... and each tire mfg will give you the rim width range for each of their tire sizes per style. if you are looking for tight handling, you want the widest rim for that size you can fit.

for example, if you have size 'a' and size 'b'...
and the book lists something like: 'a' is 5.5" - 7.5" and 'b' is 5"' - 7"
and you know you are going with a 7" rim, using 'B' on the 7' rim will be tighter handling than 'a' on the same rim even though you might think the wider tire will handle better...

if that makes any sense?

I could find a better way to say it

after looking at the specs at the site, I would go with the 205/40R17 XL listed if you have 17x7 rims

EDIT: If you have 17x7.5 or 17x8, the 215's would be ok

hmm... is it M12 x1.25? - don't quote me on that
thats whats coming to my mind, maybe you can double check at the tire rack or an online store like that.

the 215's you are looking at have 7.4" tread, the 205 versions have 7" tread, thats why I said what I did

I'll look for my book and get back to you on the lugnuts

EDIT: found the book.... M12 x 1.5
